Rancho Santa Fe, CA - After 36 holes at the Callaway Invitational hosted by the University of San Diego, the Gaels are tied for fifth place after posting rounds of 299 and 301, for a day one total of 600 (+24). Senior Daniel Cone paced the Gaels on Monday, as his back-to-back rounds of 73 have him tied for 14th place overall with a 36-hole total of 146 (+2).
Saint Mary's enter Tuesday's final round of the Callaway Invitational at The Farms Golf Club 25 shots behind SMU. The Mustangs carded rounds of 293 and 282 for a 36-hole score of 575 (-1), and hold a six stroke lead over Fresno State and tournament host San Diego. UC Irvine is nine shots ahead of the Saint Mary's and Loyola Marymount, to hold sole possession of fourth place.
Robert McRae opened the Callaway Invitational with a pair of 74s for a two-round score of 148 (+4) and is in the top-20, as he's tied for 19th heading into the final round. Freshman Mac McClung posted two rounds of 75 (150/+6) and is tied for 27th.
Henrik Holm finished the day tied for 51st overall following rounds of 77 and 79, and Nick Sako rounded out the Gaels' team scoring with rounds of 78 and 80. Sako is tied for 58th place with a two-round total of 158 (+14).
Eric Grimberg, who is competing as an individual for this event, had rounds of 72 and 77, and his 149 (+5) are good enough for a tie for 25th place.
The final round of the Callaway Invitational will be played on par-72, 6910-yard golf course on Tuesday morning.
