EUGENE, Ore. -- Saint Mary's senior Anders Engell shot a two-round total of 6-under par and is in a tie for the individual lead while the Gaels sit in third place after the first day at The Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club.

The Gaels carded rounds of 1-under par 287 and 1-over 289 to finish the day with an even par 576.  Host Oregon leads the 14-team field with a 13-under par 563, while Long Beach State is just one stroke behind at 12-under.  Oregon State is in fourth-place at 8-over par, just four strokes ahead of fifth-place San Francisco.

The field will return to the 7,007-yard, par 72 Eugene CC course tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. for the tournament's final round. 

Engell, a native of Oslo, Norway, shot 70-68 in the tournament's first two rounds and is tied with Oregon's Eugene Wong in the 80-player field.  Wong, ranked seventh nationally in the most recent Golfstat rankings, shot 3-under par 69 in each of the first two rounds.

Junior Mac McClung and senior Eric Grimberg are tied for ninth-place at even-par 144.  McClung shot rounds of 69-75, while Grimberg went 70-74.  Junior Ben Geyer shot 78-72 and is tied for 36th overall at plus 6.  Nick Sako is tied for 76th with a 17-over 161.
