Gonzales hit .545 on Sunday, going 6-for-11 with two doubles, a home run and three runs scored. Gonzales had three RBI prior to Sunday, but tripled that total with six against Sacramento State. Gonzales also had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .545 on base percentage.
The Hanford, Calif. native went 3-for-4 in the opening game against the Hornets. Gonzales chose a great time to hit her first home run of the season, crushing a pitch over the right field fence to lead off the top of the third.
Lemmon continued her stellar play on the mound as of late, going 2-0 on Sunday with a save. The Castro Valley, Calif. native pitched 14.2 innings against the Hornets, giving up 16 hits and four runs with only two earned to give her a 0.95 ERA. Lemmon walked just three batters and struck out 13.
Lemmon started games one and three against Sacramento State and struck out six batters in each of those complete games. The junior came in to pitch the final two outs of game two of the day, getting a strikeout and a ground out to earn her second save of the season.
The Saint Mary's softball team returns to action this weekend with a four-game series against San Diego. The Gaels and Toreros will play doubleheaders on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7.
