FOSTER CITY, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's rowing team closed out its fall season with plenty of success, winning three races and earning several more medals at the Head of the Lagoon regatta in Foster City on Sunday.

The Gaels got started with the Varsity Fours, taking both first and second over teams from Santa Clara, Cal-Maritime, Humboldt State and Chico State. The team of Natalie Livingston (coxswain), Rachel Alvarez, Katie Wahl, Allison McKenzie and Julia Turner crossed the line first, followed by the team of Bennett Collier (coxswain), Nicolette Pierantoni, AnaKarina Castrillo, Kylene Gilmore and Mari Irby.

The winning ways continued in Novice competition. In the Novice Fours, the Gaels won with a team of Kelsey Kroening (coxswain), Adriana Palmiere, Alexa Gordon, Kristin Williamson and Celeste DiLullo. Finishing second was the SMC team of Valerie Lim (coxswain), Sarah Gleason, Bailey Mindari, Tiffany Gill and Wendy Ibarra. And coming in fourth was another Gaels squad of Bennett Collier (coxswain), Monica Posadas, Kelsey Phillameano, Charmaine Guilambo and Sabitri Dolson.

Varsity Pairs were just as successful for Saint Mary's, as the Gaels claimed the San Mateo Cup for the third year in a row. Christina Bennett won the event for the second year in a row, this time pairing with Michelle Felmlee-Gartner to bring home the hardware. Last year, Bennett won with partner Savina Brown.

The Gaels finished in second, third and fourth as well. Tessa Cunha and Sharyl Koenig combined to place second, Dana Cook and Maryann Concannon crossed third and Stacey Boss teamed with Meagan Scott to come in fourth.

Wrapping up the day's success for Saint Mary's was Haley Adams, who finished fourth in the Championship Singles event.

The race was Saint Mary's last for the fall season. The Gaels will return competition on March 16 when they take part in the Sacramento Invitational.
