MORAGA, Calif. - The defending West Coast Conference champion Saint Mary's men's golf program announced the signing of Hunter Rappleye, one the West Coast's standout junior amateurs, to a National Letter of Intent.

Rappleye, a native of Elk Grove, Calif., will graduate this spring from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento and will be a freshman at Saint Mary's in the fall.  He is the son of Kevin and Pam Rappleye and his twin brothers, Grant and Cameron, played golf at Sacramento State.

"We are very excited to have Hunter join our program," said SMC head coach Scott Hardy.  "He is a solid player who shoots a lot of consistent scores.  He is going to bring passion and a true love for the game to Saint Mary's.  I look forward to helping him reach his goals as a college golfer."

Rappleye was one of just seven players nationally to qualify for both the US Junior Amateur and US Amateur Championships last summer.  He earned medalist honors at the US Amateur Qualifier at Contra Costa Country Club in late July after firing rounds of 69-73.

He won the Future Collegian World Tour event at Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Course last winter and finished second in the 2012 California State Junior Amateur Championships.

In each of his three seasons at Christian Brothers, he has been an all-Capital Valley Conference selection and was named to the all-River City team as a junior.
