SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Saint Mary's junior forward Beau Levesque was named the West Coast Conference men's basketball Player of the Week following stellar performances in the Gaels' two victories last week.
A native of Lafayette, Calif., Levesque averaged 19.5 points and five rebounds off the bench as Saint Mary's defeated San Diego and Pepperdine last week at McKeon Pavilion. He scored a career-high 20 points with five rebounds, two assists and a steal in just 21 minutes against San Diego, then followed that with a 19-point, five rebound effort against Pepperdine.
The Gaels return to action Wednesday night in a 7 p.m. contest at longtime Bay Area rival San Francisco, then host Portland on Saturday night in a 4:30 p.m. tipoff at McKeon Pavilion. Saint Mary's is 17-4 on the season and 6-1 in league play and currently sit in sole possession of second place in the WCC standings.
In last week's two games, Levesque shot 16-for-21 from the field for a .762 field goal percentage and 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point arc. He helped the Gaels improve to a perfect 12-0 at home this season.
On the season, Levesque is the team's third-leading scorer. He averages 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and is shooting .538 from the field. He has scored 18 points or more on four occasions and is one of five players averaging more than 20 minutes per game.
Saint Mary's plays 10 more regular-season games and has just five home contests remaining on its schedule. For tickets to the remaining home games, visit the tickets link on SMCGaels.com or call the SMC Athletic Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
