SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's women's tennis team took an early lead thanks to solid play in doubles, but a rally by San Diego State gave the host Aztecs a 4-3 victory on Sunday.

Saint Mary's (1-3) earned the first point of the day with two victories in doubles. Jenny Jullien and Jade Frampton teamed to earn an 8-4 win at No. 1, while Catherine Isip and Elizabeth Searl earned a 8-2 win at No. 2 to earn the point.

San Diego State rallied once singles began, and a win at No. 2 singles clinched the victory for the Aztecs. Saint Mary's did pick up two wins at singles, with Catherine Leduc scoring the first point with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kristin Buth at No. 5.

In the final match of the day, Jullien continued her strong start to the season with an intense win at No. 1 singles. Stretched to three sets by Julia Wais, Jullien pulled away in the third to win 7-6, 6-7, 10-3.

With the win, Jullien improves to 5-1 in the spring season. The native of Perpignan, France owns four wins over ranked opponents.
