With the loss, Saint Mary's drops to 16-7, 8-3 West Coast Conference, while Gonzaga improves to 21-5, 11-1 WCC.
Carli Rosenthal and Danielle Mauldin scored 10 points apiece to lead the Gaels who shot 46.7 percent in the game. Rosenthal also tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven, while Jackie Nared also had seven rebounds to go with seven points.
Morgan Hatten added eight points while Mia Greco had six points off the bench.
In the first half, the Bulldogs opened up a 20-12 lead, but the Gaels struck quickly to trim the deficit down to 22-18. Gonzaga would continue to pressure the Gaels into 16 first-half turnovers, which made it difficult to chip away. Gonzaga led 36-24 at halftime.
After being down by 14 points in the second half, the Gaels began to chip away, cutting the deficit down to 10 points after a Lauren Nicholson three-pointer. Nared hit her second field-goal of the game with just over 11 minutes to play to pull SMC within single digits at eight points.
Gonzaga responded to retake the lead by 13, but with 5:43 remaining, Greco hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit down to 60-50. SMC could not get under the deficit under the 10-point mark as Gonzaga won the game 69-54.
Saint Mary's is back in action on Saturday night as the Gaels take on the Pilots in Portland at 7:00 p.m.
