LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- After seeing its nine-game winning streak come to an end Thursday at the hands of Gonzaga, the Saint Mary's men's basketball team heads to Loyola Marymount Saturday for a West Coast Conference showdown.

The game is set for a 4 p.m. tip from Gersten Pavilion. The game will be televised in the Bay Area by Comcast SportsNet California. As always, Alex Jensen will have the call on SMCGaels.com, and live statistics will also be available through the website.

Saint Mary's (21-5, 10-2 WCC) remains comfortably in second place in the WCC after Thursday's 77-60 setback.

And, there is plenty of momentum still left for a group of Gaels focused on finishing the regular season strong. Saint Mary's entered Thursday's game on a nine-game winning streak, and the Gaels will look to regain that mojo on Saturday against the Lions.

Matthew Dellavedova showed again Thursday why he is considered one of the premier players in America. The senior guard scored a game-high 22 points, and also added six assists.

Guard Stephen Holt also stepped up for Saint Mary's in the second half of Thursday's game, finishing with 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Dellavedova (16.1 points per game) and Holt (11.7) are just two of the four Gaels that enter Saturday's contest averaging in double figures. Beau Levesque (10.8) and Brad Waldow (10.0) have also shouldered the scoring load and will look to do so again this weekend.

Loyola Marymount (8-17, 1-11) comes into Saturday's game on the heels of a 52-50 loss at Pepperdine on Thursday.

In the loss, guard Anthony Ireland continued his strong season, scoring 26 points on 10 of 22 shooting. He also had four assists, four rebounds and two steals for the Lions.

Loyola Marymount's last win came on Jan. 10 when it beat visiting Santa Clara 84-80. Since then, the Lions have dropped nine in a row.

Saint Mary's won the first meeting between the two teams this season, earning a 74-61 win in Moraga on Jan. 5. In that game, Dellavedova scored 17 points and added eight assists to lead the Gaels. Ireland scored 16 points on 5 of 18 shooting to lead Loyola Marymount.

After the trip to Los Angeles, Saint Mary's comes home for a pair of big home contests. Next Thursday, the Gaels host BYU at 8 p.m. in a game televised on ESPN2. Two days later, Creighton visits for a 3 p.m. game as part of the ESPN Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters series.

Tickets for both games are available by clicking the Tickets link on SMCGaels.com, or by calling the SMC Athletic Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
