MORAGA, Calif. -- Lujane Mussadi made quite the impression in her first home start as a member of the Saint Mary's softball team.

For throwing a shutout Saturday to earn her first collegiate win and give the Gaels their first win of the season, Mussadi has been named the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Making her first start against Sacramento State on her new home field, the native of Los Gatos, Calif. was brilliant.

She allowed just three hits and did not walk anyone in the 2-0 victory, facing just 24 batters in the seven-inning affair. She did not allow a runner to reach scoring position.

Mussadi's good performance also had a little to do with her defense, which was excellent behind her. 17 of her outs came via the ground ball, with an infield of Katelyn Mamizuka, Erica Musgrave, Alexis Konstantinopoulos and Megan Smith helping to keep the Hornets off the scoreboard.

She even made a great defensive play herself to end the game, snagging a sharply hit ball right back at her to make the final play.

With the win, Mussadi improved to 1-1 on the season. She has appeared in four games, and owns a 3.50 ERA heading into this weekend's Bronco Classic at Santa Clara and San Jose State.
