MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team (6-14, 1-5 WCC) will host its last two home conference matches of the 2017 season, as the Gaels will take on Gonzaga on Friday, April 14, and Portland on Saturday during the team’s Senior Day at Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.

Both matches are slated for 2 p.m. start times.

SMC is currently riding a five match loss streak, but have battled in each and every contest. Damon Kesaris continues to lead the Gaels as the top singles player. After starting the dual season 6-0 on court 1, Kesaris has dropped his last two contests. The first year player still boasts an impressive 6-2 record on court 1, and is 6-2 in his last 10 matches.

Nash Vollenweider remains steady as the No. 2 player for Saint Mary’s. The junior from Queensland, Australia holds a 6-13 record in the dual season. Vollenweider is 2-6 in his matches on court 2.

Fellow junior Jacob Lagman is 5-5 thus far in the dual season. The 5-7 player from the Philippines recently fell in a tough three-set battle in the team’s loss to nationally-ranked UC Santa Barbara.

About the Bulldogs

GU (6-9, 0-5 WCC) is currently 10th in the West Coast Conference standings, as the Gaels sit one game ahead of the Bulldogs. The Zags are on a five match losing streak and are 2-4 on the road.

GU most recently lost a 4-1 decision to No. 41 Portland. The Bulldogs also got blanked by BYU, 4-0 in Spokane.

Ruadhan O’Sullivan leads the way for the Zags with a 5-8 record on court 1. O’Sullivan is 0-3 in WCC play this season.

Vincent Rettke provides consistent performance on court 2 for GU, as he holds a 6-6 record in singles action. Rettke is currently 4-4 in his last 10 matches.

About the Pilots

Nationally-ranked No. 41 Portland (15-1, 5-0 WCC) is atop the WCC standings and are on an 11-match win streak. The Pilots are 4-1 on the road, with their lone loss coming at Washington back in February.

Mike Pervolarakis paces the Pilots, boasting a 14-1 record as the top singles player for UP. Pervolarakis is 10-0 in his last 10 matches.

Mathieu Garcia is 12-2 on court 2 for the Pilots and is currently 8-1 in his last 10. UP is 68-17 as a team in singles action for an impressive 80 percent win percentage.

Pervolarakis and Garcia showcase as the top doubles team in the conference, as the duo is 9-3 as the No. 1 doubles team for UP.
