MORAGA, Calif. — Two weeks remain in the regular season, as Saint Mary’s women’s tennis will travel north to the Pacific Northwest and take on Gonzaga and Portland for a pair of crucial West Coast Conference road matches on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15.

SMC will first take on Gonzaga on Friday at 12 p.m., while first serve versus Portland will take place at 10 a.m.

The Gaels are currently in a three way tie for second in the WCC with a conference record of 4-1.

Saint Mary’s has won three straight, and seven of its past eight matches. The Gaels are coming off a 4-2 win at home versus San Diego. SMC won all four matches in singles competition, as doubles matches were not played due to weather.

Senior Parminder Kaur has the hot hand for the Gaels, winning four straight and going 7-1 in her last 10 matches.

Kareena Manji and Jana McCord have been a stellar doubles duo for the Gaels, going 3-1 in WCC action. The tandem is 7-4 on court 2 for the Gaels and SMC is an overall record of 25-18 (58.1 percent).

About the Bulldogs

The Zags are an impressive 13-2 overall, and 4-1 in WCC action. GU has yet to lose at home, going a perfect 8-0 at home thus far this season.

The Zags have won six of their past seven matches. They recently dominated Portland and BYU on the road.

GU is led by Sophie Whittle, who is 5-0 so far on court 1 for the Zags. Whittle has won three straight, and is 6-2 in her last 10 matches. She can also slide down to court 2, as she holds a 4-2 record as the No. 2 player.

Gonzaga is 117-48 overall in singles play and 45-32 in doubles action.

About the Pilots

Portland (6-9, 2-3 WCC) are 5-2 at home, but have lost three in a row. UP is coming off a close 4-3 loss to Gonzaga, and also fell to San Diego, 4-0.

Before the three game skid, the Pilots strung together three straight wins.

Jelena Lukic is the top singles player for UP, and is currently 5-5 on court 1. Lukic is 6-4 in her last 10 matches.

Jelena Lazarevic has been solid on court 2 for the Pilots. Lazarevic is 5-1 as the No. 2 singles player and is the winner of three straight matches. Lazarevic is 8-2 in her last 10, and is also 3-3 on court 3.

Portand is .500 in singles action with a 36-36 overall record, and is 15-18 (45.5 percent) in doubles competition.
