MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's baseball's Austin Chauvin was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 1-7 after he slugged .786 and helped the Gaels win an important series versus San Diego.
Chauvin hit .357 during the week with hits in all four of SMC's games. His biggest bomb was a go-ahead grand slam Sunday in a series-clinching 6-4 win over San Diego, as he helped the Gaels gain ground in the race for the postseason.
His four RBIs Sunday were a single-game career high. He drove in six on the week and extended his current career-long hitting streak to eight games. He sported a .438 on-base percentage, had three doubles and scored twice.
Chauvin and the Gaels conclude their home stand Tuesday versus UC Santa Barbara before traveling to Malibu for a three-game West Coast Conference series at Pepperdine. Tickets for Tuesday's contest are available on SMCGaels.com or by calling the SMC Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx. All four games will be streamed live on SMCGaels.com.
