SACRAMENTO, Calif. — More personal and season bests fell Saturday for the Saint Mary's men's and women's track teams, as the Gaels honed their speed in the middle distance events at Sacramento State's fast Hornet Stadium.
A bevy of Gaels ran at the 1,500 meters distance, with several doubling back for the 800 later in the day and posting personal records along the way. The men had four finish among the top-10 in the 1,500, led by Raymond Boffman's second-place finish in 3 minutes, 58.39 seconds. Nolan Dozier was right behind him in fourth at 3:59.46. Samir Habash posted a huge improvement in his 1,500, finishing sixth in a personal record of 4:00.73. Mason Labadie was also among the top-10 for the men in eighth at 4:07.45.
Boffman completed an impressive double with a third-place finish in the 800 at 1:57.60. Jayman Peterson was among the top-10 for SMC with a seventh-place finish in 1:59.42. Habash also doubled in the 800, finishing ninth in 1:59.77. Other 1,500/800 doublers included Dozier, Dustin Espinoza, Johnny Jimenez and Labadie.
The Gaels will split their efforts next weekend when members travel to both the San Francisco Last Chance Invitational at San Francisco State's Cox Stadium, and the Portland Twilight meet in Oregon.
