HASSELT, Belgium — Former Saint Mary's starting point guard Joe Rahon has signed his first professional contract to play overseas for Limburg United, it was announced today.

An exceptional leader on and off the court for Saint Mary's, Rahon leaves the Gaels seventh in all-time assists with 381. He finished his two years at Saint Mary's averaging 9.5 points per game on 43.3 shooting from the floor.

One of the best two-way players in all of the West Coast Conference, Rahon was named the WCC Defender of the Year in his senior campaign. He ended with a two year total of 81 steals and averaged 1.2 steals per game as a Gael. Rahon was a two time All WCC First Team selection, and in his first year with the Gaels, was named WCC Newcomer of the Year.

A standout in the classroom, Rahon was named as a member of the COSIDA Academic All-District in 2016. The 6-2 guard was an All-Academic selection in every year he played for Boston College and SMC.

One of 10 teams in the EuroMillions Basketball League, Limburg United finished as runner-ups in the 2016 Belgian Cup. Founded in 2014, Limburg United is coached by former Centenary College of Louisiana player, Ronnie McCollum, who enters his first year as head coach.

Limburg United begins its 2017-18 campaign in the coming weeks, as the team will face Port of Antwerp Giants on Sept. 24.
