SMC Baseball Clinics are dedicated
to all aspects of the game including skill development, game strategy,
competition and mechanics. Each athlete will have the opportunity to develop
their skills through individual instruction, group instruction and game experience.
Saint Mary's College is very fortunate to have some of the finest collegiate
coaches in Northern California. Head coach Jedd Soto hand selects and trains
his staff, composed of top-level coaches and collegiate players. All
instructors have been chosen for their extensive knowledge of the game of
baseball and their enthusiasm to work with children and young athletes.
Saint Mary’s College Baseball Fall Hitting Clinics
Participants of the Fall Hitting Clinic will receive elite instruction from Saint Mary’s College Coaches and potentially other coaches within the Bay Area. Hitting clinics will include the same topics, workouts, and drills used by the baseball program. Individual and small group instruction will cover all aspects of hitting, including specialized skills such as bunting and situational hitting. The clinics will also focus on the athlete’s mental preparedness with relation to game-situation hitting.
Sessions:
- Ages 10-14 (Not in High School): September 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th from 10 AM – 12 PM
- High School Players: September 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th from 10 AM – 12 PM
• The Youth Clinic will be capped at 50 players. Additional coaches will be hired to ensure a 7:1 player to coach ratio.
• The High School Clinic will be capped at 15 Players. Additional coaches will be hired to guarantee a 5:1 player ratio.
Sam Carter: 1st year on SMC Coaching Staff; 2006 SMC alumnus; All-West Coast Conference outfielder for the Gaels from 2004 to 2006; picked up by the San Diego Padres and played parts of four seasons in the minor leagues; returned to the area and was an assistant coach at Clayton Valley High School for the 2010 season and helped lead them to a conference championship.
Mike McCormack: 3rd year on SMC Coaching Staff; Has held youth camps, clinics, and private instruction in Lamorinda Area and worked with over 500 youths in his two seasons at SMC; Coaches Gaels’ outfield and hitters. Played College Ball at Worcester State College in Worcester, MA. Was named Male Student-Athlete of the Year his senior season. Coached a state finalist American Legion Team in Massachusetts prior to moving to California.
*Additional staff will be hired depending on participation numbers in the clinics. Instructors will have at least collegiate playing experience.

Participants of the August High School Prospect Camp will be evaluated by Saint Mary’s coaches and receive elite instruction using the same workouts and drills used by the baseball program. Individual and small group instruction will cover pitching, and skill work for both offense and defense. The camp will also focus on the athlete’s mental and physical preparedness to play Division I Baseball. Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp, and ends at approx. 5:00 p.m. This camp is limited to 50 players. Please register early.
