Former Baseball Player Bryan Byrne Named To Southern League All-Star Team

Moraga, CA - Former Saint Mary's baseball player Bryan Byrne was selected to compete in the 2010 Southern League All-Star game, as announced on Wednesday. Byrne, who plays for the Double-A Mobile (Alabama) BayBears, will play for the Southern Division Team in a game against the Northern Division squad on July 11.

The July 11 event will take place at the home of the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate, the Huntsville Stars, in Huntsville, Alabama.

This season, Byrne has played in 71 games and is hitting .268 with five home runs and 34 RBI, while playing primarily at first base for the BayBears. Mobile has a 42-34 record this season, and is currently in second place in the Southern Division standings. Byrne played at Saint Mary's from 2003-05, and was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 2005 draft.
