"We are excited to get our spring going and build on the momentum of back to back winning seasons," said Edwards. "We have broken down many hours of film and trainings to build a curriculum and a system going forward that we believe will help us to be more successful in WCC play."
Also on March 18, the Gaels will take on San Jose State and Dominican (on the new SMC Recreation Field).
On April 14, the Gaels will travel to Westmont and UC Santa Barbara for competitions. The next day the Gaels play at Cal Poly SLO.
On Saturday, April 21, the Gaels will compete against Notre Dame De Namur and Cal State Stanislaus. Saint Mary's will wrap-up its spring schedule on April 28 when it hosts the CAL Storm and West Coast Wildkatz.
The Gaels are coming off their first 10-win season in 10 years and return over 90 percent of their scoring (assists, goals).
"We have a very good nucleus training in the spring and they have already made strides in the right direction," continued Edwards. "We have challenged our team with games versus teams that have special strikers to simulate WCC play. We have also added multiple games in a day to challenge us mentally to have more quality when we are tired."
"Also we scheduled games against Semi-Pro teams to challenge our tactical awareness and we are playing teams that we are better than, which is mentally challenging to perform at the highest level, but that is also something we will encounter in our season. We are looking forward to growing as a unit and using this spring to prepare us to win WCC games next season."
