EUGENE, Ore. -- The Saint Mary's golf team shot a final round 1-under par today and finished third overall among the 14-team field at The Duck Invitational at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club.

The Gaels shot rounds of 287-289-287 for an overall score of 863, which was 14 shots behind second-place Long Beach State and 17 strokes ahead of fourth-place Oregon State.  The 14th-ranked Oregon Ducks, the tournament host, captured the team title with a 17-under par 847. 

Senior Anders Engell finished in a tie for fifth-place overall in the 80-player field after shooting a 4-ver par 76 in the tournament's final round.  The Oslo, Norway native entered the day with five-straight under-par rounds and finished the tournament with 70-68-76 for a 2-under 214.

Senior Eric Grimberg and junior Mac McClung tied for 11th overall after firing identical scores of even-par 72.  Grimberg, a native of nearby Portland, shot rounds of 70-74-72, while McClung went 69-75-72 in the three-round event.

Junior Ben Geyer shot the Gaels' best round of the day, finishing with a 2-under 70.  The Arbuckle, Calif. native fired rounds of 78-72-70 and finished in a tie for 19th overall with a 4-over  par 220.

Sophomore Nick Sako finished in a tie for 69th place after shooting his best round of the tournament today with a 1-over 73.

Saint Mary's returns to action Monday, April 2 in its final regular-season tournament of the season - the OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara, Calif. 

The team will participate in the annual West Coast Conference Championships April 16-18 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister.
