MORAGA, Calif. - Wednesday's softball doubleheader against San Jose State has been cancelled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. The two teams will look to reschedule the games at some point later in the season.
The Gaels enter the week with an 11-16 record after going 4-2 last week. Junior pitcher Jessica Lemmon earned her second PCSC Coastal Division Pitcher of the week award of the season after going 3-0 last week. The Castro Valley, Calif. native pitched 23.2 innings and gave up just 15 hits and four runs (two earned) with five walks and 21 strikeouts. Lemmon's ERA through four games was a just 0.59 and she struck out a career-high nine batters in two different games during the week.
Senior Michelle Mounts continues to lead the Gaels and is second in the conference with a .422 batting average. Mounts also leads Saint Mary's with 20 runs scored, 11 doubles, a .687 slugging percentage and a .495 on base percentage. The Gaels also have three other players hitting over .300 and who each have four home runs this season in senior Rebecca Sabatini (.345), sophomore Brittany Sabatini (.333) and senior Nicole Arce (.306).
Saint Mary's opens up PCSC play this weekend by hosting Sacramento State (17-9) for a four-game series. The Gaels and Hornets will play doubleheaders on March 31 and April 1 with games beginning at 12 p.m. each day.
