SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Senior Anders Engell earned individual runner-up honors and the Saint Mary's golf team registered its seventh top-three tournament finish today at the OGIO UCSB Invitational at Sandpiper Golf Club.

The Gaels finished the 54-hole tournament with a 1-under par 863 to finish behind team titleist Long Beach State's 854.  Host UCSB finished third with a 12-over par 876.

The event marked the end of the regular-season for Saint Mary's.  The Gaels will join the rest of the West Coast Conference golf teams at the annual league championships April 16-18 at San Juan Oaks Golf Course in Hollister, Calif.

Engell, who has been one of the hottest golfers in the country over the last month, finished just one stroke behind LBSU's Xander Schauffele after firing rounds of 69-67-73 for a 7-under par 209.  The Oslo, Norway native has four-straight top-5 finishes and has been the tournament runner-up in three of his last four outings.

Junior Mac McClung of Fremont, Calif. finished in a tie for ninth-place overall with rounds of 72-70-75 for a 1-over 217 on the 7,068-yard, par 72 course.  Senior Eric Grimberg went 73-71-76 for a 16th-place finish at 4-over 220.

Ben Geyer tied for 17th-place overall at plus-5 after shooting rounds of 70-72-79 for a three-round total of 221.  Sophomore Alex Bungert improved each round, firing scores of 77-76-75 for a total of 228.
