REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's rowing
took gold in four of the six races the Gaels competed in at the NorCal/SoCal
Showdown on Saturday.
The varsity-8 boat got the morning started the morning off
racing Loyola Marymount. The Gaels
finished two seconds behind the Lions, clocking in with a time of 7:01.6, while
LMU finished with a time of 6:59.6. The
lineup for the varsity-8 boat was: coxswain
Chelsea Serrano, 8 Haley Adams, 7 Michelle Felmlee Gartner, 6 Dana Cook, 5
Maryann Concannon, 4 Deanna Estes, 3 Stacey Boss, 2 Christina Bennett, bow
Savina Brown.
Up next for Saint Mary's was the second varsity eight,
finished just behind LMU in another tight race.
The 2V8's finished with a time of 7:42.4, while LMU clocked in at
7:34.3. The lineup for the 2V8 was: coxswain
Natalie Livinston, 8 Brandy Cho, 7 Nathalie Lambrecht, 6 Nicolette Pierantoni,
5 Caitlin Evans, 4 Kira Paulin, 3 Katie Wahl, 2 Tessa Cunha, bow Alexandra

The fours rounded out the morning by taking first and second
against LMU's varsity four. The lineup for the varsity-4 boat was: Bennett Collier, 4 Allison McKenzie, 3 Mari
Irby, 2 Julia Turner, bow Rebecca Beutler.
They finished with a time of 8:48.9, while the novice-4 finished with a
time of 9:14.2, Loyola Marymount finished with time of 9:44.0. The novice-4 boat was: coxswain Jessica Sin, 4 Katie McCollam, 3
Lynette Sandoval, 2 Heather Marsh, bow Kylene Gilmore.
In the afternoon it was Saint Mary's versus UC Davis. Saint
Mary's took first in all the races and the fours finished one and two ahead of
Davis' varsity four.
The varsity-8 boat finished with a time of 7:03.8, while the
Aggies clocked in at 7:11.1. The second
varsity-8 boat finished with a time of 7:28.5, while UC Davis finished with a
time of 7:44.5. The varsity-4 boat
finished with at time of 8:53.3, while the novice-4 boat finished with a time
of 9:06.2, UCD clocked in at 9:10.2.
The weekend will end with Saint Mary's racing San Diego State in the morning
Sunday.
