MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team (3-11) returns to action on Tuesday, when it travels to UC Davis (5-10) at 2:00 p.m. The non-conference match-up between the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation schools will be the second meeting of the year between SMC and UCD.
On February 23, the Aggies defeated the Gaels in a close 16-13 game at Recreation Field. Amanda Cross scored five goals for the Gaels, but was outdone by Elizabeth Datino for UCD who scored six goals. The game was tied up at 12-12 with just over 10 minutes remaining, but the Aggies outscored the Gaels 4-1 down the stretch to close out the game.
Last week the Gaels defeated Fresno State 20-6 and lost to Stanford 16-7. The Aggies also played twice last week and lost 19-18 to Stanford and dropped a 12-11 decision to Fresno State. UC Davis enters the contest having lost six straight games.
UC Davis is led by Datino with 50 goals and 39 assists. Hannay Mirza has scored 33 goals while Elizabeth Landry and Charlotte Morris have scored 32 goals each. Landry also leads UCD with 69 draw controls and 32 ground balls. The goalkeeper is Jordan Majka with a 13.60 goals against average and 110 saves.
Cross leads the Gaels with 53 points, coming on 41 goals and 12 assists. Mariah Walk and Caroline Mahony have scored 19 goals apiece. Rachel Minarovich has set a school record with 66 draw controls this year. Holly Hayes is the ground balls leader with 26. In goal, Kathleen Worsdale has a 14.61 goals against average with 112 saves.
