SANTA CLARA, Calif.  - The Saint Mary's baseball team took game two of the series winning 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Stephen Schott Stadium.  Kyle Barraclough had his best outing of the year earning his second win of the season, and 18th of his career.

Saint Mary's (21-19/ 5-9 WCC) pounded out five runs on nine hits, none bigger than the two run home run by Patrick Wisdom, the sixth of the season and 26th of his career.  The 26 home runs puts Wisdom in sole possession of fifth place all-time at Saint Mary's.

The Gaels scored first in the top of the second inning, Wisdom led off the inning with a double to left field he moved to third on the single by Brenden Kalfus to short.  Wisdom scored on a fielder's choice hit by Greg Ditmer in the hole between third and short.

Santa Clara (19-20/2-12 WCC) was held scoreless for seven innings before scoring a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth.  Starter Powell Fansler (5-4) took the loss after going 6.0 complete, allowing five hits, two runs, one earned, with three walks and two strike outs.

SMC took control of the game in the top of the seventh inning.  James Smith took the ball for the Broncos ending the day for Fansler.  Donald Collins started the rally with a one out double to left center field, he came around to score on a single up the middle by Ricky Boas.  Boas scored on the two run home run by Wisdom.

In the bottom of the eighth inning the Broncos finally broke through against Barraclough.  Greg Harisis walked on four pitches to lead off the inning.  He moved to third on the double down the right field line by Matt Ozanne.  A single to third base by Pat Stover scored Harisis from third.

In the bottom of the ninth inning the Broncos made things tense for the Gaels.  Barraclough game back out to try and go for the complete game, he immediately surrendered three singles to load the bases.  Patrick Keane came on to pitch for Saint Mary's with the bases loaded and no outs.

Keane promptly got C.J. Jacobe to strike out looking for the first out.  The game ended on an interesting play.  Kyle DeMerritt flied out to center field, scoring Stephen Takahashi from third, who led off the inning with a hit,  T.J. Braff was thrown out at second when he wandered too far off the base when the runner ahead of him stopped at third.

Keane went 1.0 inning pitched and did not allow a hit or a run while tallying a strike out for his fourth save of the season.  Barraclough went 8.0 plus, allowing 10 hits, two runs, both earned, with three walks and five strike outs.

Six Gaels tallied a hit on the afternoon, Brenden Kalfus continues to see the ball well, he went 3-for-4 on the afternoon.  Wisdom went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.  Collins, Boas, Collin Ferguson and Greg Ditmer all had the other hits for Saint Mary's.

The Gaels will go for the sweep tomorrow when Ben Griset takes the mound for SMC.  The game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start at Stephen Schott Stadium.
