FRESNO, Calif. -- Hannah Liljekvist and Danielle Flores provided Saturday's highlight for the Saint Mary's women's tennis team, winning their quarterfinal match at the Bulldog Classic in Fresno, Calif.
The Gaels duo squared off with Loyola Marymount's Logan Finnell and Lisa Piller in a Flight A doubles match, and had little trouble in cruising to an 8-2 victory. The win left Liljekvist and Flores as the lone Gaels to reach Sunday's semifinals.
In Flight A singles action, Flores began the day with a 6-4, 6-3 quarterfinal win over Pacific's Iveta Masarova. Flores bowed out of the championship draw in the next round, dropping a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Michelle Okhremchuck.
Liljekvist also notched a singles win, defeating Montana's Heather Davidson 6-4, 6-2 in the Flight A consolation quarterfinals. That was as far as she'd go though, as Liljekvist was defeated 6-2, 7-5 by Montana's Laurence Pelchat in the consolation semifinals.
Melissa Arthur reached the Flight B semifinals thanks to two wins on Friday, but lost her match with Pacific's Gergana Boncheva 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday.
