MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's head coach Rob Browning announced that Alexis Salmons has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Gaels beginning with the 2013 Fall season.
"Alexis came to our summer camp even though she was injured," said Browning. "Her presence and interactions with the team confirmed what we already knew... that she is an ideal fit for our team, not only because of her skill level, but also the type of person she is."
Salmons, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker is currently in her senior year at Francis Parker HS in San Diego. The Lancers are ranked 19th in California and own a 30-2 record and 10-0 mark in conference play. On Saturday Francis Parker plays for the CIF San Diego Section (division IV).
She was named on the Prep Volleyball Senior Aces list which honors her as one of the top 250 players in this years class. Salmons has also played for Wave Volleyball Club in San Diego and competed in the high division of club volleyball. Her team finished seventh in the 17 OPEN Division at the 2012 USA Girls Junior National Championships.
Volleyball runs in the family as Salmons is the daughter of 1984 U.S. Olympic volleyball standout and gold medalist Steve Salmons.
The 2012 Gaels have four seniors on their roster in Lauren Corp, Gabby Jolly, Anna Schroeder and Missy White.
