MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's basketball team finished the SMC Hilton Concord Classic as the only undefeated team with a 70-67 win over Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon in McKeon Pavilion. The Gaels built a 16-point second-half lead and held on for the victory.

Jackie Nared tied a career-high with 28 points, adding 12 rebounds and was named the Classic's Most Outstanding Player. She was joined on the All-Classic team by teammate Danielle Mauldin, Taylor Schippers (Butler), Angela Misa (Portland State) and Kayla Christopher (Chattanooga).

Chattanooga stayed in the game by connecting on 13-for-38 from three-point land. The Gaels once again used a steady does of rebounding (48-39 advantage) and free-throw shooting, (SMC 20-for-25, 80 percent).

Saint Mary's ended the first half on a 10-2 run and began the second half with a 13-2 run to open up a 16-point advantage. The Gaels led by 10 at 63-53 before the Lady Mocs got hot from three-point range. Chattanooga came back within 63-61 with 1:57 remaining.

Saint Mary's would make a couple stops and led 67-61 with 1:07 left. UTC made two more threes with an SMC free-throw in-between to pull within 68-67 with 38 seconds left. The Gaels got one free throw to lead by two and withstood two UTC attempts, one to take a lead with a three that rimmed out and another jumper that missed to tie the game. The Gaels got a rebound and free-throw with two seconds left to go up 70-67. The Lady Mocs inbounded the ball but could not get a shot off to potentially tie the game.

In addition to Nared's 28 points and 12 rebounds, Mauldin added six points and 11 rebounds (eight offensive). Morgan Hatten and Lauren Nicholson added seven points apiece.

Saint Mary's is back in action on Thursday, November 29 at Cal Poly. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. in San Luis Obispo. The match-up will be the first of five consecutive road games for the Gaels.
