ADELAIDE, Australia -- Former Saint Mary's forward Clint Steindl has been selected to play for the North All-Stars team as a reserve in the annual National Basketball League All-Star Game next week.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Adelaide Arena. The North All-Stars is comprised of players from the Cairns Taipans, Townsville Crocodiles, Sydney Kings and Wollongong Hawks. The South team is represented by players from the New Zealand Breakers, Melbourne Tigers, Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers.
Steindl was also selected to participate in the Three-Point Shootout.
"Clint should be proud of being selected. He works really hard—as do all the guys here—but he’s come in here as a rookie and worked his tail off,” said Taipans head coach Aaron Fearne. “He shoots it a 40-plus percentage, and if you can do that as a three-point shooter you’re legit. Teams are definitely fairly concerned when he steps onto the floor because he can really come out and bust a game open."
Steindl is currently averaging 6.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 40 percent from behind the 3-point arc in his 11 appearances this season. He scored a professional career-high 19 points on 5-of-9 long range shooting on Oct. 20 against Adelaide.
