As the temperatures have dropped this holiday season, Jorden Page's play has begun to heat up.
The junior guard from Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia is playing some of his best basketball right now, fresh off a career-high 26 points at Northern Iowa on Sunday.
SMCGaels.com caught up with Page after practice last week for some random musings, including what this year's team is really like and what's on the headphones before games these days.
Q: So, it's the holiday season. What's it like being so far away from home?
A: It's good to have a holiday, but it's obviously not home. I'm used to going to the beach on Christmas Day.
Q: How does that work? I can't even imagine the beach right now.
A: At home, it's summer right now so it's beach weather. Christmas time, we go to the beach, go home and have a big roast for dinner.
Q: Whatcha roasting?
A: We do lamb, turkey. It's kind of the same as here but we do more lamb than here.
Q: If you get to choose, what's on the plate?
A: I like lamb for sure.
Q: Finals ended recently. How big a relief is it that school's done for a while?
A: It's a big weight off your shoulders. It's crazy. A lot of people think it's easy to do but it's not. You've got to get through it and see what you can do. This is the best time of the year for us. We're focused on basketball and just trying to get wins. And we actually get to sleep in a little!
Q: Are you the guy that sleeps until you have to get up or are you an early riser?
A: I'm a sleeper. I'll sleep til I have to get up.
Q: What's on the pregame mix right now?
A: Ooh. I'd say "G.O.O.D. Morning" by 2 Chainz right now. That's the stuff right now.
Q: Is it working?
A: I'm feeling good, so it must be.
Q: What's the criteria for pregame music right now?
A: It's pretty much whatever's new. I like The Game's album, Jesus Piece, right now.
Q: Favorite class last semester?
A: I'm going to say archery. We do it back on the soccer field. That was a fun class.
Q: You're not hunting things to roast, are you?
A: No no. It's all fun and games.
Q: Talk a little about the unique character of this team. Is this a goofy group or more of a serious group?
A: I guess you'd call it goofy. We're really close like that, but when it's business time, we know what to do. We definitely have a lot of fun on the road.
Q: What's the favorite road activity?
A: For me, I listen to music, sleep and eat. That's all I do. I'm pretty sure everyone just tries to relax.
