LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Saint Mary's senior Ben Geyer registered a 2-over par 212 to finish in a tie for 12th place in the prestigious Patriot All-America on the Gold Course at The Wigwam.
A native of Arbuckle, Calif. Geyer shot rounds of 69-72-71 on the 6,948-yard par 70 golf course. Arkansas junior Sebastian Cappelen birdied the 18th hole to earn a 1-stroke victory with a 4-under par 206. He was one of just seven players in the 82-person field to finish under par.
The 54-hole amateur event, which features 84 nationally recognized college players in a holiday bowl-like experience is the combined effort of the Arizona Golf Association, the Golf Coaches Association of America and the Wigwam Golf Resort in conjunction with the tournament’s beneficiary, the Folds of Honor Foundation.
The tournament field includes PING All-Americans from the previous season in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as All-Americans from the NAIA, NJCAA and AJGA ranks.
Saint Mary's, the defending West Coast Conference champions, open its spring season Feb. 11 at The Farms Collegiate Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
