MORAGA, Calif. -- Just a few days after beating Fresno State for the first time in program history, the Saint Mary's men's tennis team found itself No. 74 in the latest rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Saint Mary's (1-1) traveled to Fresno last Friday to take on the Bulldogs, who were ranked No. 50 in the nation coming into the match.

The unranked Gaels had to fight to the very end of the match, but team captain Joakim Norstrom came through with the big win Saint Mary's needed, earning a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles to deliver the 4-3 match win.

One day later, Saint Mary's dropped a tough 5-2 decision to Cal Poly, which moved up five spots to No. 57 in the latest rankings.

The Gaels will make their home debut Wednesday at 3 p.m. when they host Sonoma State.
