RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- Junior Dalan Refioglu was one of just two players in the field to shoot under par in today's final round at The Farms Collegiate Invitational at The Farms Golf Club.
As a team, Saint Mary's finished second among the 12-team field with a 3-round total of 11-over par 875. The Gaels fired rounds of 289-289-297 and finished just three strokes behind tournament champion Pacific.
The University of Missouri, ranked 20th nationally, finished third wth a 30-over par 894, while host San Diego was fourth with a plus-33. Other West Coast Conference teams in the tournament included Santa Clara (7th, +44), San Francisco (8th, +51) and Loyola Marymount (10th, +73).
Sophomore Jonathan De Los Reyes paced the Gaels with a tie for fourth place with rounds of 71-72-74 for a total score of 1-over par 217. Refioglu, who fired the team's best final round score, carded rounds of 74-74-70 for a sixth palce finish at 2-over par 218.
Senior Mac McClung owned sole possession of 10th place with a 6-over 222 after posting rounds of 69-78-75. Classmate Ben Geyer struggled with a final round 80 and finished in a tie for 18th place overall with a 9-over 225. Junior Alex Bungert finished tied for 22nd at 11-over.
Freshman Maclayne Marr, playing as an individual, registered a tie for 13th with rounds of 70-76-78 for a 3-round total of 8-over par 224.
Saint Mary's returns to action in a little over a week when it travels to Palm Desert, Calif. for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, scheduled for Feb. 22-24 at Classic Club.
