MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's soccer head coach Kai Edwards announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Kaeli Schmidt and Jessica Imbrie will be joining the Gaels for the 2013 season.

Kaeli Schmidt (6-2, GK, Fort Collins, Colo., Poudre HS)
Schmidt is a four-year letterwinner and was named all-conference after her junior season. She was ranked as the #11 goalkeeper in the country by top drawer soccer and a top 150 recruit overall. Kaeli was a top 80 recruit and ranked 13th in the Rocky Mountain Desert Region.

"Kaeli comes to us with a great amount of experience," said Edwards. "She has represented Region IV for many years both domestically and internationally. She has a dominant presences, standing at 6'2, which is going to be needed in WCC play.. .Kaeli is good with her feet, a strong shot stopper and really has a very good soccer IQ. She has tasted the top level in this country and she wants to get back into the National team mix."

"Kaeli is the 11th ranked goalkeeper in the country for this recruiting class and it is well deserved," continued Edwards. "Her club, Fort Collins Arsenal and Colorado Rush, have done a very good job of helping her grow. We are excited to see her compete for the wide open starting spot this fall."

Jessica Imbrie (5-6, D/F, Portland, Ore., Sherwood HS)
Imbrie attended Sherwood HS where she earned numerous awards on the soccer team. She is the 10th ranked recruit in the northwest. She was recently a top-150 recruit in the country.

Imbrie holds four HS records in track in the 1500m, 1600m relay, 800m and the 400m. In 2010 she led the team in scoring with 16 goals, then led the squad in assists in 2011 with 13. She won state championships in track and soccer, including the Oregon Co-Player of the Year in 2011. She was twice named All-League and All-State.

"Jess is a very quick, smart soccer player that will add pace and a high quality of soccer technique to our wide spaces," said Edwards. "Jess will play either the 2 or 7... she has a motor that doesn't stop and puts in a quality service."

"As a Oregon state player of the year she lead her high school team to the state title her junior year and back to the state finals her senior year," continued Edwards. "She is a tremendous person who will also bring a lot of personality to our team. With multiple years representing our Region IV odp team and also her Oregon state team her experiences versus the top level is very good. Her club coach Joy at Thualitin Hills did a good job helping Jess grow as a player and a person and now FC Portland is finishing off the process ."

"These two have been committed for a while and have done nothing but hold themselves to the highest standard and represent themselves as class acts and quality soccer players. They have great character, talent and personality. "
