MORAGA, Calif. -- Thanks to a historic win over No. 7 Stanford on Saturday, the Saint Mary's women's tennis team moved to No. 30 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released Tuesday.
Saint Mary's (5-3) pulled off its first win over a top-10 team when it defeated the Cardinal 4-3 at Taube Family Tennis Center. The Gaels were ranked No. 45 at the time.
One player to score a point for Saint Mary's on Saturday was No. 1 singles player Jenny Jullien, who defeated No. 10 Krista Hardebeck in straight sets. Jullien is currently ranked No. 24 in the nation, and carries an 8-1 spring record into play this weekend.
The schedule gets no easier for the Gaels. No. 2 UCLA visits Korth Tennis Complex on Saturday at noon in a big non-conference match for both schools. The Bruins bring six ranked singles players and four ranked doubles teams to Moraga.
