MORAGA, Calif. -- Following its second-place showing at last week's Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, the Saint Mary's golf team returned to the national top-25 rankings.
The Gaels are rated 24th nationally by Golfweek and 25th by Golfstat.com this week. The Gaels are the only West Coast Conference team ranked among the top 40 in either poll and are the fifth-highest rated program among Division I institutions on the West Coast.
Saint Mary's, the defending WCC team champions, has finished among the top three in every 54-hole tournament it has competed in this season and has finished in runner-up or better in five of seven team events. The Gaels opened the spring season with second-place finishes at The Farms Collegiate Invitational and the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
In head-to-head competition against Golfweek's ranked teams, the Gaels own a 9-6 record against squads ranked among the top-50 and have won 35 of 45 matchups against top-100 programs.
