SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's baseball team dropped a 10-1 decision at UC Santa Barbara on Monday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Field.
With the loss, Saint Mary's drops to 4-8 while UC Santa Barbara improves to 8-4. The Gaels return home to open up a 13-game homestand, beginning with the Utah Utes at Louis Guisto Field on Friday.
Saint Mary's got on the board first against the Gauchos as DonAndre Clark used his speed to steal a base and score on Collin Ferguson's RBI single.
UCSB proved too much offense, hanging crooked numbers in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Kelsey Outram (1-2) pitched well before running into trouble in the fifth inning, giving up a three-run spot. Outram finished with 5.0 innings, three earned runs and three strikeouts.
Tanner Kichler, Jacob Valdez, Thomas Cortese and Anthony Gonsolin also made appearances on the mound for the Gaels.
SMC was only able to muster four hits in the game as Clark, Ferguson, Anthony Villa and Cole Norton accounted for the SMC hits.
There will be plenty of upcoming opportunities for the Gaels to get back on track in the upcoming homestand as the Gaels play 13-straight at home. On Friday, the Gaels host Utah at 2:00 p.m. at Louis Guisto Field.
