EUGENE, Ore. -- Joakim Norstrom and Seif El Sherbini scored in singles, but the No. 73-ranked  Saint Mary's men's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 63 Idaho in Eugene, Ore.

Saint Mary's (6-6) fell behind early when Idaho (12-1) captured wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles to take the first point of the match.

The Gaels did get one win in doubles, with the No. 1 team of Jesse Kiuru and Norstrom beating Abid Akbar and Marius Cirstea 8-5.

After Idaho won at No. 5 singles to go up 2-0, Norstrom put the Gaels on the board with a win at No. 2. Saint Mary's captain defeated Akbar 7-6, 6-1.

El Sherbini would be the only other Gael to hit the scoreboard, beating Cesar Torres 6-4, 6-3 to claim a point at No. 4.

Saint Mary's also lost two tough three-set matches, including Kiuru dropping a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1. Thomas Hunt also pushed his match at No. 6 to three sets.

The Gaels will be back on the court on Sunday at 11 a.m. when they face No. 40 Oregon.
