REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's rowing team headed to the South Bay on Saturday to square off with the Stanford lightweight team as part of the Pac-12 Challenge at Redwood Shores.
And, the Gaels came home with one win, as the novice 4 boat of Valerie Lim, Sarah Gleason, Alexa Gordon, Tiffany Gill and Celeste DiLullo scored a decisive victory over its Cardinal counterparts. Saint Mary's stopped the clock in 8 minutes, 6.5 seconds while Stanford finished in 8:40.2.
"Great job to the novice 4," Saint Mary's coach Nicole Younts said. "They embraced the challenge of racing at the end of a full week of training camp. I am proud of their effort and they should be too."
Stanford took wins in the varsity 8 and 2nd varsity 8 to round out Saturday's results.
"We knew Stanford would be fast and they were," Younts said. "We have some things to work on and it showed."
Next up for Saint Mary's is a trip to the San Diego Crew Classic on April 6-7.
