MORAGA, Calif. -- A six-goal deficit expanded after halftime and the Saint Mary's lacrosse team suffered its first home loss of the season as it fell 20-6 to Stanford on Wednesday in Moraga.

Saint Mary's (3-7, 1-4 MPSF) got four goals from Amanda Cross and one goal apiece from Rachel Minarovich and Jillian Chong.

Cross scored all four of her goals in the first half, and the Gaels trailed just 11-5 at halftime. Stanford (8-3, 3-1) expanded on the lead right out of the break though, scoring three goals in the first two minutes of the half.

After Minarovich's goal with 23:17 remaining made it 15-6 Stanford, the Cardinal finished the game with five unanswered goals.

The loss was Saint Mary's first in four tries on its home turf. The Gaels now hit the road to take on Oregon on Sunday at 1 p.m. After that, SMC will finish the 2013 season with home games against Fresno State and Denver.
