SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's men's tennis team wrapped up West Coast Conference regular season play on Friday, dropping a 6-1 decision at San Diego.

Saint Mary's finishes WCC play with a 3-5 record. The Gaels are 9-13 overall heading into Sunday's regular season finale at Sacramento State.

San Diego concludes its regular season with a 16-8 overall record and 6-2 mark in conference play.

Joakim Norstrom earned the Gaels' lone point of the afternoon, winning the day's final match at No. 3 singles. He defeated Romain Kalaydjian 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) for the victory.

The Toreros claimed the first point of the match Friday, winning all three doubles matches to take the advantage.

That momentum carried into singles, where San Diego won three matches quickly to clinch the victory.

Thomas Hunt forced a third set in his match for the Gaels, but Victor Pugliese won the final set for a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 win at No. 4.

After finishing the regular season on Sunday, Saint Mary's will head back to San Diego for next week's WCC Championships. The Gaels will begin play Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
