INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Saint Mary's women's tennis player Jenny Jullien was selected Wednesday as the West Coast Conference's automatic qualifier to the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships that will take place in Urbana, Ill. from May 22-27.
Jullien was selected by the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Subcommittee to take the WCC's automatic spot based on the NCAA selection criteria applied to conferences with one or more players ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 125.
Earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament was just another feather in Jullien's cap on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the junior from Perpignan, France was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year. Jullien went 15-6 in dual matches this spring, and when tournaments are added in, she defeated 10 ranked opponents. That includes wins over two players ranked in the Top 10.
Before she heads to Illinois, Jullien will fill her familiar spot atop the lineup when Saint Mary's begins team competition in the NCAA Tournament. The Gaels will play Auburn on May 10 at 10 a.m. in a first round match. That match will be played at Cal.
