WOODLAND, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's lacrosse team was well represented on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's All-Academic Scholar-Athlete list Thursday, with 10 Gaels earning the honor.
Holly Hayes, Jaclyn Biggers, Amanda Cross, Anna Maria Carabini, Anna Turpit, Rachel Sunday, Mariah Walk, Rachel Minarovich, Jillian Chong and Megan Armes all earned distinction Thursday for their work in the classroom. Saint Mary's tied for third in the conference with its 10 selections.
In order to be eligible, the student-athlete must have a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, completed at least one year prior at the participating institution and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.
For the second straight year, Hayes led the team with a 3.989 GPA in Business Administration. Biggers was next with a 3.464 in Kinesiology. For the full list of GPAs, click here.
The Gaels finished 2013 with a 4-9 overall record, earning wins over UC Davis, Marquette, Stetson and Fresno State. Cross and Minarovich each earned All-MPSF second team honors for their seasons, and Minarovich will return in 2014 to lead the Gaels.
