SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Rajpaul Pannu of the Saint Mary’s cross country team has been named to the preseason All-West Coast Conference team, it was announced today. Pannu is the school’s record holder in both the 8000m and 10000m events.
As a team, the Saint Mary’s men’s squad is predicted to finish sixth. BYU and Portland earned the top two spots, followed by Gonzaga, San Francisco and Loyola Marymount. After Saint Mary’s is Santa Clara, San Diego and Pepperdine.
In addition to Pannu, Scott Fauble (POR), Steve Flint (BYU), William Kincaid (POR), Jose Madera (USF), Conner Peloquin (BYU), David Perry (POR), Weston Strum (LMU), Tylor Thatcher (BYU) and Jason Witt (BYU) rounded out the preseason All-WCC team.
On the women’s side, the Gaels are predicted to finish in seventh place. USF, BYU and Portland are the top three, followed by LMU, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, Pepperdine and Pacific.
The preseason All-WCC women’s team includes Lauren Bergam (GON), Elena Burkard (USF), Laura Hottenrott (POR), Eva Krchova (USF), Tansey Lystad (POR), Sheree Shea (LMU), Natalie Shields (BYU), Jana Soethout (USF), Laura Suur (USF) and Maor Tiyouri (USF).
The Gaels begin the 2013 season at the San Francisco Invitational on August 31st at Speedway Meadow.
