– The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer dropped a 2-0 decision at Colorado on Sunday afternoon in Boulder.
“Colorado is a very good team… they capitalized on two mistakes,” said head coach Kai Edwards. “It’s our responsibility to take care of those this coming week heading into a road match at Marquette.”
The Gaels and Buffaloes each had five shots apiece in an evenly played second-half. Colorado scored early in the 4th minute, and then again before half time in the 36th minute. Brie Hooks scored both goals for Colorado.
Vicki Shimkus led the Gaels with three shots, while five other Gaels attempted a shot. In goal, Kaeli Schmidt made six saves in 90 minutes.
“We played two games of 88 quality minutes,” said Edwards. “We fix four minutes this weekend and we have different results. The team had two top notch defending performances this weekend… we will get the attack going.”
Saint Mary’s is back in action on September 6th when it takes part in the Marquette tournament in Wisconsin. The Gaels take on Marquette at 5:30 p.m. (PT).
