DAVIS, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's men's tennis team wrapped up its three-day stay at the Aggie Invitational hosted by UC Davis with a consolation title in doubles thanks to a strong final day showing by Samuel Bloore and John Stormans.
Bloore and Stormans were the last Gaels to play matches with something on the line in Davis, as they won Saturday to reach Sunday's consolation final.
They faced Portland's Kent Andreason and Justin Guay, and the Saint Mary's duo continued to build on its late run in the tournament, winning 8-3 to claim the consolation title.
Saint Mary's will return to action next weekend as part of the Battle In The Bay Classic hosted by San Francisco. Action begins at the California Club on Friday morning. After competing across the Bay, the Gaels will host the ITA Northwest Regional beginning on Oct. 18 at Korth Tennis Complex.
