AKRON, Ohio -- Saint Mary's sophomore Maclayne Marr shot a 2-over par 146 and is tied for 13th place after the first two rounds at the annual Firestone Invitational, Presented by FirstEnergy Solutions at the Firestone Country Club North Course.

As a team, Saint Mary's posted rounds of 292-304 for a 20-over par 596.  The Gaels finished the first day of competition in eighth place among the 17-team field, two shots behind Old Dominion and four behind Illinois State.  Washington State owns an eight stroke advantage over Kansas State for the team lead.  Just eight strokes separate second-through-eighth place in the team standings.

The field returns to the course tomorrow morning for a final round of 18 holes beginning at 5:30 a.m. (Pacific).  The Gaels are paired with golfers from Old Dominion and Georgetown and will be the first pairings off the 1st hole.

Marr carded an even par 72 in the morning's first round, despite a triple bogey on the 387-yard second hole and a double bogey on the 545-yard par 5 18th.  Other than those two holes, he registered seven birdies, two bogeys and seven pars in the round.

In the afternoon, the Mona Vale, Australia native carded four bogeys and two birdies en route to a 2-over par 74.  He is tied for 13th place in the 90-player field.

Senior Dalan Refioglu shot identical rounds of 75-75 and is in a 10-golfer tie for 32nd place at 6-over par 150.  After rough starts in both of his rounds today, Refioglu settled down and finished at even par over the front nine.

Classmate Alex Bungert started off the day with an up-and-down even par 72 after carding five birdies and five bogeys in the morning.  The Orange, Calif. native struggled in the afternoon with a 79 and is tied for 42nd overall, along with teammate Tye Gabriel, at 7-over par 151.  Gabriel shot rounds of 73-78.

Freshman Hunter Rappleye, playing as an individual carded rounds of 74-78 and finished the first 36 holes tied for 51st overall, along with teammate Cody Robinson, with an 8-over par 152.  Robinson shot 75-77 on the day.
