MORAGA, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's women's tennis team continues its fall season this weekend as it welcomes some of the top teams on the West Coast for the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational at Korth Tennis Complex.
Saint Mary's heads into its home tournament on the strength of a solid showing at the Cal Nike Invitational two weeks ago. Junior Catherine Leduc won the ITA White Division title, senior Jade Frampton won the Gold Division consolation final and Leduc and Audrey Leitz reached the White Division doubles final to provide a few highlights from three days of tennis in Berkeley.
Since then, reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Year Jenny Jullien has also been in action, participating in the ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles. Jullien won her first two matches in the qualifying draw, including a straight-sets win over No. 56-ranked Gabriella DeSimone of USC. Jullien would eventually fall in her final qualifying match, but carries plenty of momentum forward from a good showing on day one.
Joining the Gaels this weekend will be several notable West Coast teams, including last year's NCAA champion, Stanford. Fellow Pac-12 schools Cal and Washington will also compete this week, and they'll be joined in the field by Fresno State, San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Cal Poly, Gonzaga, UC Davis, Sacramento State, Santa Clara and Portland.
Action begins in Moraga on Friday morning and continues all day on Friday and Saturday. Finals are scheduled for Sunday. Check SMCGaels.com later in the week for updated draws and match times.
