SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- A strong start to the conference season for the Saint Mary's volleyball team has seen plenty of contributions from a host of different players, and last week it was Jordan Shaw's turn to take the lead as she was honored Monday with West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors.
A senior from nearby Woodside, Calif., Shaw enjoyed a strong statistical week as she totaled 37 kills and 20 digs in wins over Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine. She also had one of her most efficient weeks this season, compiling a .326 hitting percentage between the two matches
For her efforts, Shaw was also named the Muscle Milk Saint Mary's Student-Athlete of the Week. She is the second volleyball player to earn the award this season, joining two-time recipient Kristina Graven.
Shaw has been one of Saint Mary's stalwarts all season, leading both on and off the court as the Gaels have begun the season 10-5 and 6-1 in WCC play. She is second on the team in kills per set (3.48), digs per set (2.65) and aces (18).
The Gaels return to the court this week for a pair of road matches, beginning with Thursday's 6:30 p.m. showdown at San Francisco. The week concludes with a 1 p.m. match at Santa Clara.
