STANFORD, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's women's tennis team brings its fall campaign to a close this weekend as it heads to Stanford to take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Regional.
Play begins Friday with all day action and continues throughout the weekend at Taube Family Tennis Center. Finals are set for Wednesday.
The Gaels are led by reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Year Jenny Jullien, who last competed at the ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles on Oct. 1-2. Jullien, ranked No. 22 to begin the season, won her first two matches at the tournament, including a win over No. 56 Gabrielle DeSimone of USC. She fell one step short of qualifying for the main draw though, dropping a tough decision to Florida's Brianna Morgan.
Jullien did not play at last weekend's Saint Mary's Fall Invitational, but the rest of the Gaels squad did. Audrey Leitz rebounded from an opening-round loss to claim the ITA Red Division consolation title, and the team of Jade Frampton and Danielle Flores battled back to reach the ITA Red doubles consolation final.
Saint Mary's will next be in action in January when the Gaels take part in the Cal Winter Invitational in Berkeley from Jan. 17-19. Dual matches begin on Jan. 24 in Los Angeles when SMC faces Utah at the ITA National Indoors Tournament.
