MORAGA, Calif. -- In her final week of West Coast Conference home matches, Jordan Shaw made sure she and her fellow seniors wouldn't have to settle for anything less than a pair of wins.
The senior from Woodside, Calif. enjoyed perhaps her finest stretch of play last week, turning in a pair of dominant performances to help Saint Mary's earn sweeps over Santa Clara and San Francisco. And, for her play, Shaw has been named this week's Muscle Milk SMC Student-Athlete of the Week.
Action began Thursday against Santa Clara, with Shaw firing right out of the gate. She tallied an impressive 17 kills with no attack errors, hitting a scorching .586 to lead the Gaels to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-14 win over their rivals from the South Bay.
Saturday brought Senior Day for Shaw, Kristina Graven and Sarah Reams, and final home conference match offered yet another outstanding effort from Shaw. She collected her 12th double-double of the year, finishing with 18 kills and 10 digs, as Saint Mary's defeated San Francisco 25-20, 25-17, 25-17.
The outstanding week of play came just one week after Shaw became just the 10th player in Saint Mary's history to reach the career 1,000-kill mark. With three matches left in the regular season, she now sits eighth all-time with 1,038 kills.
Saint Mary's returns to action with a late-night affair Thursday in Spokane as the Gaels face Gonzaga at 9 p.m. The WCC season concludes Sunday with a 1 p.m. match at Portland. Saint Mary's final regular season match takes place at home on Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. against UTEP.
